Founded in 1994 by Mate Vekić, who planted his first olive tree at the age of 75, Mate Olive Oil is nestled in the picturesque region of Zambratija, near Savudrija, Croatia. At the age of 75, Mate Vekić embarked on his olive-growing journey, planting 27,500 trees across 69 hectares. His dedication to quality and sustainable practices laid the foundation for what has become one of Croatia's most acclaimed olive oil estates.
In 2009, Mate's daughter Aleksandra Vekić, a former nurse with the International Committee of the Red Cross, returned to Istria to care for her father and took the helm of the family business. Under her leadership, Mate Olive Oil has flourished, earning numerous accolades, including a perfect 100/100 rating in the Flos Olei 2025 guide, and recognition as one of the world's top olive oil producers.

Probably the nicest guys on the planet. These are two brothers named Dino and Diamantis who have a strong family rooting. Founded in 2009 by brothers Diamantis and Dino Pierrakos, Laconiko is a fourth-generation family-owned producer of extra virgin olive oil, rooted in the rich olive-growing traditions of Lakonia, Greece. Their commitment to excellence has propelled Laconiko to international acclaim, earning over 400 awards, including multiple Gold Medals at the New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC), and recognition as the "#1 Most Awarded Olive Oil Brand in Greece" by the EVOO World Ranking.
